Two older retail buildings on So Mooney in Visalia will be demolished to make room for a new 5100sf Sherwin Williams Paint store according to a preliminary plan filed with the city. The older stores at this location, all rentals, include the Smoke Shop a tattoo parlor and mobil phone store.Sherwin Williams has store nearby at 1800 S Tulare Ave that they would vacate.
CarMax & Aldi set for April 13 Commission meeeting
The Visalia City Planning Commission will consider the following items on Monday, April 13, 2020 at 6:00 p.m – A request by CarMax to amend Zoning Ordinance Section 17.25.030 (Zoning Use Matrix Line A22) to establish “Car Sales New & Used” as a conditional use in the C-R (Regional Commercial) District, Citywide .Also they want a Conditional Use Permit to allow a used car sales and service center on a 5-acre parcel in the C-R (Regional Commercial) Zone District. The project site is located on the southwest corner of S. Mooney Blvd. and W. Visalia ParkwaThe hearing wills take up a Tentative Parcel Map request by Lars Anderson & Associates, Inc. to subdivide a 28.7 acre site into a 11-lot commercial subdivision in the C-R (Regional Commercial) Zone located on the southwest corner of S. Mooney Blvd. and W. Visalia Parkway.
The developer plans three retail buildings, a credit union building( Kern Schools Credit Union), a gas station/convenience store, a sit-down restaurant, two drive-thru restaurants, and an automotive tires and sales store (Les Schwab), on parcels with less than the minimum five acre requirement, including a parcel with no public street frontage, affecting 17.43 acres of a 28.7 acre site in the C-R (Regional Commercial) Zone. The project site is located on the southwest corner of S. Mooney Blvd. and W. Visalia Parkway.

Across Mooney from the CarMax site – Aldi Groceries wants to build a new store. Aldi is appealing the City Planner’s determination that the proposed use does not meet the classification as a Specialty Food Store. The proposed Aldi grocery store is seeking to locate within a future Master Planned Development within the C-R (Regional Commercial) zone/land use district. The future Master Planned Development is located on the southeast corner of South Mooney Boulevard and West Visalia.
Tulare to do get Under Amour outlet store
Tulare Outlets will get a new retailer in coming months.Under Amour sports store will fill a 8000sf space formerly occupied by Dress Barn.

O”Reilly Auto Parts coming to Tulare
Tulare planning department says permits were pulled to construct an O’Reilly Auto Parts on the northwest corner of San Joaquin Avenue and ‘J’ Street.The store is a $2.3 million project of around 8000sf.

“Walmart – with a stores in Visalia and Tulare among other local cities have seen their sales rise “rapidly in stores and online in recent weeks as shoppers, worried about the spread of coronavirus, rushed to stockpile water, face masks and canned goods before shifting their focus to necessities for a prolonged stretch at home.
Walmart sales from its over 4,700 U.S. stores increased nearly 20% over the past four weeks compared with the same period last year, according to documents viewed by The Wall Street Journal.
