Kaweah rafting season near end after good run

Kaweah White Water Adventures says there is about another week to 10 days to go to the end of the 2018 white water rafting season on the Kaweah River this year.The season opened early in mid-April and should continue until early August says the Three Rivers company. Only smaller trips are being organized this week says a spokesperson noting the end of the drought this year made this the best season in a while.

New Packwood Creek bridge will connect Walmart center to Cameron Ave

Approvals are being finalized for construction of a new bridge that will connect Cameron Parkway with the existing Walmart shopping center. The city says the 5O-feet wide and 170 feet length bridge will have two drive lanes and a left turn pocket. There will be sidewalk on one side of the bridge. Paynter Realty, owner of the center will build the bridge with completion of environmental notices.

SPCA building new complex in Visalia

Valley Oaks SPCA is building a new 20,000sf clinic and adoption center at 1332 N Nevada, just west Plaza Dr and south Goshen Ave. Pets will be available for adoption at the complex.As a nonprofit since 1991, Valley Oak SPCA’s no-kill rescue mission is to provide shelter, adoption services, low cost veterinary care and community education to eliminate the suffering of companion animals.

Gas Buddy: Farmersville cheapest in state for fill-up

The popular website Gas Buddy who tracks gasoline prices across the nation says the cheapest place to fill-up in California is none other than Farmersville California where there are 2 stations posting a price $2.87 gallon. Both are stations near the intersection of Farmersville Blvd and Visalia Rd. The second cheapest place to buy gas in California – Lemoore.

Building ‘Mighty 190’ tourism

Mighty 1902019-07-30 at 9.14.49 AMThe county is partnering with a score of other agencies to promote tourism traffic along Hwy 190 to the Sierra. The Mighty 190 South County Tourism Group says they started with a “Mighty190” branding and logo, bought the Mighty 190 website domain, created social media accounts and built an informational board and restrooms at Success Lake Vista Point that was installed by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The BOS heard a presentation this week.
