June 27,2018-
The board of Tulare Regional Medical Center is expected to vote June 27 on proposals by four area hospitals to open and operate the shuttered Tulare hospital. On June 26 an advisory committee of the Tulare board met on which the four proposals, if any, to accept. Sources say only Adventist Health has offered financing as part of their response. The Tulare District board has asked the potential partner hospital to open the 112-bed medical center by late October, before their state permit expires.
The hospital closed their doors last November.
Adventist Health has locations in Selma, Reedley and Hanford.
To sweeten the deal Tulare would follow up by offering Adventist a long-term lease of the complex one negotiations were complete. Local voters would have their say before any final deal. The three other hospitals – Kaweah Delta, Community Regional Medical Center and Dignity Health- Bakersfield decide not to invest the requested $22 million.
Despite that at the June 26 meeting, the committee voted to invite two or the original four to make presentations at the board meeting on 6/27.Besides Adventist, Community Medical Center will also present a proposal to open the hospital in 2019 says committee member Keven Northcraft.
