Fresno and Clovis have them. Tulare has one too. Now Visalia will be home to its first water slide – a place for families to cool off during the nearly half year that temps are, you know, up there.
The location is Visalia Adventure Park off 198 near Akers at 5600 W Cypress in West Visalia. The idea is not a new one. “We’ve been working on this for the past five years” says managing partner Roger Hurick. You will have to wait a summer to get wet, however. “We are looking at opening May 2019” says Hurick.
Hurick says the new water side is made in America and will meet requirements to save water. “This water feature will not have any standing water thus saving water due to evaporation like our bumper boat pond has now. The water will drain into storage tanks and will be recycled, treated with chloride and UV lighting to kill bacteria.”
The attraction will be to the north of the current Race Track building, and west of the golf course. The Race track building will be remodeled and be larger to allow for bathroom, changing rooms along with a sitting area especially for Grand Parents which will be air-conditioned, along with a snack bar.
Preliminary plans were filed with city in recent days.
As for the water park itself, the structure will have 3 big slides and 1 smaller slide, of the 3 big sides 2 will be enclosed, 1 will be open. Two water buckets will dump every 3-4 minutes. While waiting in line there will be interactive water games on the structure.
“Also note the ground will have water features as well so there should be fun for the whole family. We have not given the theme a name yet” he says.
“This water park will be great for the families that don’t want to spend the big money to go to the big water parks in Fresno, nor the driving time of 1 hour each way. Will be a great addition to our Park and the standard of living for the people in Visalia and cities within 35 miles of Visalia.”
