The unemployment rate in the Tulare County was 11.5 percent in April 2015, down from a revised 13.2 percent in March 2015, and below the year-ago estimate of 13.3 percent. The numbers of unemployed dropped 13.6% year over year from 26,500 to 22,900.
Non-farm jobs in Tulare County are 2800 higher than year ago while farm jobs are down compared to April 2014 by 300 – mostly drought related.
The jobless rate here compares with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 6.1 percent for California and 5.1 percent for the nation during the same period.
The 11.5% rate is the lowest since 2008 when it was 9.8%, before the great recession.
The jobless rate could fall to single digits this summer.
