Macy’s & Penny’s open at Visalia Mall
Visalia Mall general manger Rick Feder says most of the mall tenants are open including Macy’s and JC Penney this week. Bath & Body Works will open on 7/3. Victoria’s Secret, Build A Bear, AT&T and Sports Fever are not open yet. A face covering is recommended in the mall. Most stores require masks to enter their store to shop.
Meanwhile the mall’s owner Brookfield Properties along with another mall property owner – Simon Property Group Inc. – is digging into its wallet say WSJ “ to rescue another big tenant, a move that could help stabilize its mall business but one that raises new questions about the industry’s longer-term viability, analysts say.
The biggest mall owner in the U.S. by number of malls is teaming up with Brookfield Property Partners, another large owner of shopping centers, in exploring a bid for J.C. Penney Co., according to a person familiar with the matter. The department-store chain filed for bankruptcy in May.”
Valley Strong Credit Union opening on N Dinuba Blvd
Kern School Credit Union, now rebranded as Valley Strong Credit Union has leased space on North Dinuba Blvd in Visalia, one of two locations in Visalia they expect to open. The latest is space leased from Donahue Schreiber at the former Mattress Firm spot in the Target shopping center at 3030 N Dinuba Blvd, Unit A .\Valley Strong has also signed a deal to open a location at the proposed shopping center at SW corner of Mooney and Visalia Parkway. The Kern-based credit union is opening in Tulare as well.
Boot Barn remodel underway in Visalia
Permits to remodel 4018 S Mooney by Boot Barn have been issued and construction is underway at the former Pier One location in Packwood Creek. The Western ware store has a location in Tulare.
New taqueria coming to Downtown Visalia
TDK’s Tacos is coming to Downtown Visalia to be located at 125 E Main – the former Poke House. A bulk transfer is set for July. Owned by Duval Espinoza, the new restaurant by the owner of Wimpy’s Hamburgers is the latest project by Exeter based Espinoza.
Tulare County median home price higher in May but sales plunge
California Association of Realtors reports existing May home sales in Tulare County fell 24% from a year earlier. Statewide sales were down 41%. But the median sales price rose slightly in Tulare County to $255,250.
