But Firestone Grill pulls out-
January 24,2019-
Bob’s Discount Furniture will be part of the new The Grove-South at Packwood Creek development in Visalia, facing Costco, occupying a new 33,000sf building to be constructed next to Sportsman’s Warehouse.
Orosco Group’s Patrick Orosco confirmed the deal this week saying they have signed a lease with Bob’s. “We expect to start construction this summer “says Orosco.
Connecticut-based Bob’s now plans 120 stores including 14 in the greater LA market that they entered only year ago. Now the fast growing retailer is expanding north to the greater Fresno market say furniture industry sources, supplied by a 806,000-square-foot distribution center facility in San Bernardino.
Owned by private equity firm Bain Capital, the low-price retailer does not reveal sales figures. Furniture Today says 2017 sales ranked No. 11 on their Top 100 with $1.28 billion when it had 89 stores.
The Grove shopping center now sports several other developments being built from scratch including a new 15,000sf furniture retailer LazyBoy showroom, and Valvoline drive-thru. A deal for large restaurant – Firestone Grill – has fallen through says Orosco.”We still hope to get them back.”
Also at the Grove, retail giant Costco has purchased land from Orosco to add nearly 100 more parking places to the Visalia Costco parking lot typically clogged with cars as it is.
Despite being just off Mooney- the big retail boulevard – Orosco and their marketers have been able to attract new development to this bare land based on the proximity to high traffic retailer Costco, the city’s largest sales tax generator. The first to land was Sportsmans’ Warehouse. Now the place is filling up and Patrick says they plan to finish out the entire parking lot in The Grove- South.
Orosco says regards the proposed the Grove North shopping center, right now with one tenant – the Surf Thru Car Wash on the north side of Cameron, they continue to try to lure a multiplex movie theater and other retailers.
Besides working south Mooney – Orosco continues to struggle to fill the corner of Mooney and Walnut where a long rumored Dunkin Donuts deal never materialized. Orosco says their still is no news on any leases there. His partnership bought the old Weatherby’s building in 2016, closing that furniture outlet- and built a multi-tenant drive-thru on the spot. Despite being located on one of the busiest corners into city – you will just have to wait for some news a while longer.
