VA Clinic Plans Move
The Veterans Affairs Community-Based Outpatient Clinic would like to relocate from its current location on 1050 Cherry St to 1000 N. Mooney, the old IRS building, currently vacant. The city Planning Commission will hear an application December 14 to make the move The new location is just under 10,000sf – adding more space to add additional services said to include psychiatry. Some $1 million in improvements are expected to be made. The IRS still rents the building owned by Carey Stanley but that agency has relocated to Visalia some years ago.
Pilot Truck Stop Eyes Paige Facility
Pilot Travel Center would build a new restaurant and fueling facility in Tulare close to the current Loves Truck Stop on Paige according to reliable sources. Pilot, who has merged with Fying J has a truck stop in Lost Hills also near a Loves location across the street.Tulare Mayor David Macedo says he welcomes new investment in Tulare even though the city has other fueling stations.”It’s hard to say no.” Macedo notes that tough competitors like Home Depot and Lowes often have a corporate policy to locate near one another. Currently, Pilot Flying J is the largest purveyor of over-the-road diesel fuel in the United States. Pilot Flying J also is known as the largest Travel Center chain in the country with over 550 locations under the Pilot and Flying J brands.
