CalTrans favors new Agri-Center Interchange in Tulare
CalTrans is proposing building a new freeway 99 interchange about a half mile south of Paige Ave in Tulare connecting to the Tulare Agri-Center campus. The proposal, under study for a decade, will go to the Tulare City Council February 5 for their concurrence .
The plan would keep the busy Paige offramp open, good news for several new developments like the $7 million Pilot truck stop that just broke ground at Blackstone and Paige.

A donation in 2011 by the Faria Family gifted an irrevocable offer of dedication for right-of- way for the future construction of the “Agri Center” interchange along the Commercial Avenue alignment on both sides of Highway 99.The AgriCenter land is the home of the World Ag Expo. This land dedication will cover the majority of right-of-way needed to construct the interchange project says a Tulare council memo. The new interchange may be ready by 2027.
The memo also says based upon cost estimates and the availability of potential funding sources, this alternative is the lowest cost alternative and has the highest likelihood of being funded. Local funds are available in part from the countywide Measure R fund. The estimated project cost is $71,803,000.
