Tulare Hospital Patient Revenue Still Falling
Tulare Local Health Care District continues to suffer lower patient revenue numbers according to the latest financial report. For year to date June 30 – patient revenue is down 4.1% or just under $2 million. Total revenue is up $ 1.1 million however based on other funding. Most key metrics are down for the year including the year including discharges, down9%,newborn deliveries down 24%,in patient surgeries down 19% and ER visits, down 8%. Inpatient lab tests are up 6% and primary care visits to clinics are up 26%.
Former City Manager Dredge Will Support Bond
One key leader in Tulare – former City Manager Lynn Dredge after earlier expressing some doubts about it is now coming out in support of the hospital bond. The measure is being voted on this month in Tulare by mail-in ballot. A news article in the Fresno Bee a few weeks ago had Dredge on the fence over the controversial issue that has split the town’s leadership.
Now Dredge says voters should “separate the issue of how the board is running the hospital” with the overarching need to complete the building that the bond will fund. Still ”its an uphill battle to get two thirds approval.”
Dredge was City Manager for 24 years and now volunteers as Tulare Chamber CEO until a new exec is found.
Converse Plans New Store At Outlet Mall
Tulare Outlet Mall has snagged a new store – Converse, the shoe people who are remodeling the store formerly leased by Ecko, a retailer who went into bankruptcy earlier this summer and has now closed all their stores nationwide.The location is next to Baskin Robbins.
Tower Square Improvement District Approved
One block in Downtown’s Tower Square will have a Property Based Improvement District now. The Tulare City Council approved the plan a few weeks ago.
Tulare’s Kaweah Brewery Wants To Do Tastings
Tulare’s Kaweah Brewery will have an August 22 Planning Commission hearing on their plan to do limited tasting events at their East Walnut brewery.
Tulare County Home Sales / Median Price Both Up
Tulare County home sales rose in July according to the California Association of realtors Sales of existing homes were up 9.6% year-over-year and the median price of homes that sold rose to $215,000 from $185,000 a year ago.
Tulare Could See 168 Unit Multi Family Project
Tulare Planning Commission will hear a design review application from Hillman Tulare Investors, LLC, to construct and operate a 168-unit multi-family gated development. The development will consist of twenty-one 8-plex buildings, clubhouse, community pool, tot lot/open space, parking garages, and parking lot areas. The project is located on the west side of Hillman Street, north of Leland Avenue.The application can be reviewed until September 12 at City Hall.
