 Work to enlarging San Luis Reservoir set for 2021

San Luis Reservoir near Los Banos would be expanded by 130,000acre feet under a plan being proposed by federal, state and water contractor entities. The dam would raised by 10ft.The off-stream storage reservoir holds 2 million af of both state and federal CVP water.
The increase would provide expanded capacity in San Luis Reservoir to store water supply divertible under the existing operation requirements for the CVP and SWP in periods when the existing reservoir would otherwise be full and improve annual allocations as a environments documents published this month. San Luis Reservoir is relied on by water users to store over multiple years allocated CVP water supplies diverted in wetter years for later use in drier water years and other acquired water.

Completed in 1967, San Luis Reservoir is the largest off-stream reservoir in the United States, with a capacity of 2,041,000 acre-feet .

Also, Reclamation and DWR completed a Corrective Action Study to identify and develop alternatives to reduce seismic risks at the big reservoir that has a fault nearby. Construction is scheduled to start in 2021.
Central Valley Meat in Hanford has recorded 187 COVID-19 cases at their meat processing plant as of May 13 says the Kings County Public Health Dept.
