Rehabilitated Marine Mammals Returned To Sea After Pipeline Spill

Three California sea lions returned to the wild off the California coast near San Diego on August 16, after wildlife care experts determined they were ready for release. Wildlife experts captured the sea lions during the Refugio Oil Spill Response that started on May 19, when Pipeline 901 leaked oil into the Pacific Ocean in northern Santa Barbara County.
