Visalia Permit Values Up 16 Percent
The total value of all Visalia building permits are up 16 percent through October 2016. The higher numbers reflect a jump in new commercial building in town.The city has seen $51.7 million in new commercial construction through October 2016 compared to $23.8 million for the same 10 months in 2015. There has been only a small uptick in single family home building in Visalia, up 2% to 436 units from 428 for the same period last year. Total valuation for all permits for the month of October was $22.2 million compared to $16.8 million last year. Some 120 multi-family units have been built so far this year with just 56 units built during 2015.
Marriott Residence Inn Hotel Under Construction On Plaza
A new $9 million Residence Inn is under construction in Visalia on Plaza Drive. The 95-room, extended stay hotel, is being built by Raj Verma of Bakersfield. The 5-story hotel is located at 205 N Plaza Drive at Crowley. The hotel is expected to open by the end of next year.
