The Visalia Kmart and the Lemoore Kmart are among the 142 Sears Holdings stores expected to close soon according to an announcement by the company this week.
Not on the list is the Visalia Sears stores on Mooney. Sears is going through Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
The Visalia Kmart is located on Noble Ave and County Center and the Lemoore store in part of a shopping center at 18th and West Armona Rd. Both Kmart centers are anchored by a Savemart grocery store.Other Kmart locations in the valley included on the closure list are stores in Modesto and Delano.
A store rep in Visalia said she knew no more details of the plan.
Bakersfield Amazon Center breaks ground
The Fresno area is not the only South Valley community waiting for a new Amazon distribution center and all those of jobs. This month earthmover been the process of grading a 138-acre parcel near the Bakersfield airport just north of Merle Haggard Drive.The center is expected to employ around 1000 when it opens late next year.
Hearing on Pilot Truck Stop in Tulare set for October 22
A public hearing the proposed Pilot/Flying J truck stop in Tulare is set for Planning Commission on October 22. Pilot hopes to begin construction of the the big fueling/fast food center “as soon as possible” after that says the city planner Josh McDonnell. The big center will locate right next to rival Loves, off the Paige exit near Hwy 99 in south Tulare.
