Screen Shot 2018-06-13 at 9.57.46 AMAfter 220 days of skiing and snowboarding, Mammoth Mountain’s shredding season will come to an end on Sunday, June 17.
Like most years, Mammoth is the last major U.S. ski resort still open this late into the year.
After Sunday’s final run in the Sierra Nevada, the country’s only locations with the lifts still running will be a pair of much smaller resorts, Beartooth Basin in Wyoming and Timberline Lodge in Oregon. Beartooth has announced a July 8 closing date, while Timberline is generally open year-round for skiing and snowboarding.
At Mammoth, the resort has received 262 inches of snowfall at Main Lodge since September — well short of the 617.5 inches of powder in 2016-17.
