Hydrogen plant in Lindsay cleans air, saves money/ more

New dairy pipeline north of Visalia

This week the County is expected to approve a proposed bio-gas upgrading facility project in Goshen by CalBioGas-North Visalia, LLC, that will include an encroachment into County road right of way for a pipeline to cross Road 68. It will include installation and operation of a gas meter set assembly or point of receipt, digester type bio upgrading facility equipment, gas pipeline extension, and additional ancillary facilities required to connect to a nearby existing natural gas pipeline system.

The pipeline will bring biogas from nearby diaries to use as renewable transportation fuel injected into SoCal gas lines.The project is similar to the one in Pixley where 18 daires are being connected to the the SoCal pipeline.

CORTEVA PHASING OUT INSECTICIDE:

Chlorpyrifos used on citrus

Corteva, the largest manufacturer of chlorpyrifos that has long been sprayed on strawberries, corn and citrus to kill pests, said Thursday it will stop making the product by the end of this year .

The insecticide is linked to neurological problems in children and threats to wildlife, but the EPA under President Donald Trump has resisted banning it, arguing additional safety assessments are needed.

County to approve hydrogen plant for Lindsay

Screen Shot 2020-02-10 at 8.29.50 AMA Brazil-based company Ergostech Renewable Energy Solutions, is expected to get county approval this week to build a renewable hydrogen production plant that will take waste gas from Lindsay’s sewer plant converting  it to renewable biogas and hydrogen as well as  renewable fertilizer. The facility will also convert  dairy and citrus waste reducing greenhouse gases and improving air quality.

The plant will operate 7 days a week creating 20 skilled jobs says the company’s statement.Energy costs to operate the Lindsay sewer plant are expected to drop.

The zero emission fuel produced will power farm equipment ,forklifts and passenger  vehicles.The project site is 4 miles west of Lindsay.The plant will produce 3.8 tons of hydrogen  per day when it opens in mid 2022.
