December 4,2015-
Storms – mostly from the northwest – will regularly make their way into northern California during the first half of December says NWS forecasters. The frequent storms should help make up this year’s water deficit in that key part of the state. As of December 4 the Northern Sierra Precipitation: 8-Station Index is only at 58% of average.
But drought challenged middle California will have its day as well as the days pass with again, cold-Alaskan originated storms dropping into the state but sliding down to wet the mid-state down as far as Tulare and San Luis Obispo counties. Those storms are expected December 11, 13th,14th and 17th according to the GFS weather model. The Tulare Basin water index stands at 104% of average today.
