Walmart will roll-out online grocery shopping for pick-up at the Visalia Mooney store by the first of the year.

The city is processing permit to remodel about 322sf of store space to handle orders the will include a cooling section says store manager Valerie Mansker. “It’s in the works but we don’t have an exact date yet “ says Mansker.

Walmart is also planning delivery of ordered groceries as they have piloted in other towns but there are no specifics yet in Visalia says Masker

Both services target busy working families who are pressed for time to go shopping for that night’s dinner, Pick-up service will not costs more. When there is delivery service it will likely include a fee, perhaps $10.

With the new service, Mooney store shoppers can submit their order online and a Walmart associate will go shopping for you and package your grocers for pick-up at your convenience.

Customers place their orders online at Walmart.com/grocery or on the existing Walmart Grocery App, and unlike other services, they find the same prices on items that they do in stores.

BLM Targets Removal of Dead Trees Around Three Rivers

The federal Bureau of Land Management wants to remove dead and dying trees from 35 California counties, from Siskiyou to Santa Barbara including Tulare County.

“Within 200 feet of those areas, we’re looking at removing the dead and dying, as well as doing some proactive green-tree thinning,” a BLM spokesperson says .This would include prescribed fires and “mastication” work, which is grinding up vegetation and making it less of a hazard.

The public has been asked to submit feedback before any plan is finalized.

According to project lead, Coreen Francis as of now, the BLM has identified n the planning stages of development that there is a need to remove about 500 acres of dead and dying trees in Tulare County, along roads and areas with critical infrastructure. The BLM would like to start falling these dead and dying trees in the Case Mtn Recreation Area, near Three Rivers, later this year.

Improving the food at Kaweah Delta

OK it’s not a four-star restaurant but chair of the board for Kaweah Delta hospital says they can do better. Board president Lynn Havard Mirviss reported her care at a recent hospital stay was excellent but “that was not the case with the food we were served.” Mirviss told the board recently “We are not going to improve patient satisfaction scores unless we can improve the quality of the food being served our patients.”
That appears to have got their attention at the 450-bed medical center. CEO Gary Herbst advised the issue has been around for a while and the hospital does now have a new chef but needs a director of food services to boost quality.

Success Lake Expansion Funded

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will spend $74 million to fund the enlargement of the dam at Success Lake east of Porterville says Bakersfield Congressman Kevin McCarthy in a news release.

“Efforts to enlarge the dam have been years in the making and after more than a decade of delays and studies, this is the start of a new era for the project – one that will finally see it to completion.”
The spillway will be raised 10 feet.
