December 4,2015-
Downhill ski resort China Peak is open this weekend with limited runs. Here’s what they say today.”With the excellent snowmaking run we’ve had this past week we will be opening the top of the mountain Saturday and Sunday with Chair 2, in addition to Chair 6 plus the 400′ moving carpet in the base area for beginners. At this time we are open weekends only, will open daily beginning either 12/14 or 12/19, depending on conditions and new snow.”
“We have made lots of snow on Kaiser, so it will have the best coverage on Chair 2. However, we will allow most of the terrain off that lift to open, but keep in mind low snow conditions exist, so ski and ride with care.We will have ski & snowboard rentals, ski & ride school, sports shop, day lodge cafe and Jack’s Place all ready to go. Ticket prices will be posted in the Tickets & Season Pass section of this website. We will open daily no later than December 19, including the Inn, sooner if we are to open much more terrain before then.
We still have over 100 seasonal jobs to fill this winter!”

Badger Pass downhill ski resort in Yosemite expects to open December 11.
If you are of the cross country persuasion Badger Pass is great place to take off from in Yosemite with a rental shop there, and in Sequoia try Montecito Sequoia Lodge. Staff at Montecito Sequoia says they are not renting gear yet or grooming the trails until they get more snow. They have 6 inches on the ground. The place is closed until a week before XMAS. Nearby, you can cross country now on Big Meadow Rd. Carry chains up Hwy 180.
