NOAA weather models point to an uncharacteristic wet start to May .The first storm is expected next Tuesday/Wednesday with light rain in the Valley and coastal areas in Central California.Some 1.5 inches are expected in the Sierra between Tuesday and Friday adding to a record volume of precip and snow in the mountains. Some snow is expected.
Storms in the first half of May are pretty unusual says a forecaster at NWS Hanford Hanford often gets no rain in May but averages 0.26 inches.
Hanford saw only a trace of rain in April after a almost 4 inches in March, receiving almost 15 inches since October 1 and nearly 11 inches since January.
