More discount retailers are coming to Tulare.
Ross Stores will open a new store in Tulare in coming months, in the former Kmart space. DD’s Discounts, another Ross-owned store, will open next door as well.
The former Kmart that closed in 2016 will be divided into three spaces according to a building permit application to the city. The third space its not spoken for.
City planner Steve Sopp says the Ross space will be 31,000 square feet and DD’s Discounts will occupy 26,300 square feet.
Ross is also applying for a variance from the city to display a larger sign than permitted. A hearing at the Planning Commission is set for April 23.
Next door, the former Mervyn’s space will be divided up as well into three spaces with Harbor Freight and Dollar Tree leasing space and a third space not spoken for.
Ross is an American chain of off price department stores headquartered in Dublin, California, officially operating under the brandname, Ross Dress for Less. It is the largest off-priced retailer in the U.S.
Unlike some clothing brands Ross has been on the grow – adding more locations. Sources say Ross will likely open next to the new proposed Walmart in Porterville as well
