New Officers Installed for 2016-18 Term
Exeter, CA, August 30, 2016– The Tulare County Economic Development Corporation, established in 1983, celebrated the completion of its 33rd program year. The EDC was formed to serve as the lead organization for job creation in Tulare County primarily accomplished through the attraction of new companies and industries. George Vasquez, Vice President & Area Branch Manager for Bank of the Sierra will serve as Chairman for the 2016-18 leadership term taking over for Tulare City Council Member Craig Vejvoda who has served as Chair since 2014.
During Vejvoda’s term as Chairman, the EDC prospect activity continued to increase; an enhanced marketing program was launched, and the organization is well established to earn re-designation as an Accredited Economic Development Organization, an honor that few EDC’s have been able to attain. “The future is optimistic for the EDC and its mission to bring new jobs to our communities” Vejvoda stated in the annual report to the Board. Vasquez, who has served as the Vice Chairman of the Board noted that the EDC plans “to continue the successful track record it has in bringing in new jobs for our communities and maintain the stewardship that is an integral value of the organization.”
Rounding out the leadership of the EDC for the next two years, Porterville City Council Member Monte Reyes was elected Vice Chairman, Colby Wells from Southern California Gas Company as Treasurer and Exeter Council Member Teresa Boyce as Secretary. Vejvoda will remain a member of the EDC’s Administrative Committee as Past Chairman. The EDC Board consists of a city council member from each of the eight cities in Tulare County, private sector representatives and representatives from the College of the Sequoias, Porterville College and Workforce Investment Board.
