As of December 21 the North Sierra is 98% of normal for the date

California’s disappearing snowpack has reappeared this month up and down the Sierra.
State figures tell the story. As of December 1 North Sierra snow stations were just 36% of normal for the date while the Central Sierra came in at only 10% and the South just 11%.
Now three weeks later there is a more promising tale. As of December 21 the North Sierra is 98% of normal for the date .The snowpack in the Central Sierra is at 90% and the Southern Sierra – 75%
More good news is that several more cold storms are on the way expected to reach down to Central California although Southern California is still awaiting El Nino. The north coast of the state could get 5 inches of rain.
