Tulare County is requesting an additional $750,000 from the state Water Board to supply residents with bottled water. The board is expected to approve the request Tuesday August 18.
The County has signed up over 1,000 households serving over 4,700 residents under the bottled water program and anticipated expending the initial $500,000 granted in July 2014 by the state by the end of August 2015. The additional requested funding will allow the County to continue its existing bottled water program, uninterrupted, for up to 33 months. It will also allow the County to provide bottled water to its residents whose wells have run dry as a result of the drought.
This is notĀ the only state money going to residents in the county with a million dollarsĀ allocated to county schools back in May.
