VISALIA – Two neighborhoods in Visalia now have water after their wells ran dry, and the neighborhoods have five new fire hydrants to increase fire protection capability in the area.
California Water Service worked with the City of Visalia to install 3,000 feet of new water main to provide 26 families with reliable water supply. Eight-inch PVC water main was installed on Atwood Street, from Hurley Avenue to Oak Avenue, and on Oak Avenue, from Crenshaw to the end of the street. Six-inch PVC pipe was installed on Laura Avenue, from Linwood Street to Chinowth Street. PVC pipe generally does not rust or corrode and is considered to be more cost-effective than alternative materials.
“We are grateful to the City of Visalia and to Deputy City Manager Eric Frost for partnering with us to bring water to local families in need,” said Scott Bailey, Cal Water district manager. “Through careful planning over the years, we have maintained an adequate water supply. And, as our customers continue to be good stewards of our precious resource, we are confident that we will have a sufficient supply during this drought and for generations to come.”
Cal Water serves about 132,200 people through 43,400 service connections in Visalia. For information on water conservation rebates and programs, visit https://www.calwater.com/
