A revised EIR has been released studying a 4.4mile stretch to extend the popular Bob Jones Trail from near SLO to the current staging area (parking lot) at the entrance to Avila Valley.
The previous EIR appeared to favor building a bridge over Hwy 101 to connect the east side to the west – a plan criticized by a number of local civic and recreational groups.
Now the current “preferred alternative” calls for a a 600ft tunnel under 101 to connect the trail.
The revised plan was released by the County Oct 20. Comments on the plan must be submitted by December 8.
