Australian food container company plans manufacturing plant in Visalia

Established in 2000, Multisteps Industries is a family-owned packing company based in Australia. Now the company has leased 250,000 square-foot on Riggin in the Visalia Industrial Park and plans to retool the building into a manufacturing plant making retail food containers starting this fall. The plastic food containers popular in your produce aisle at the store include packaging for meat, seafood, fresh produce, and more products.The company states they have the ability to offer packaging with up to 100% recycled content.The packaging protects and extends the shelf life of fresh produce and meats.

In a statement to the city, the company says their operation will hire between 60 to 100 employees as they ramp up what will be a 24-hour day, seven day a week operation.The building address is 7825 W Riggin.

The firm has chosen Visalia over a site in Fresno to locate.

Property owner Freddie Molina says the lease covers about three quarters of the new Clancy and Riggin – Building 3 of the YS Industries developments that is 356,000sf. He says Multisteps plans to be open in October in a multiphase development.

The company will have a site plan hearing next Wednesday, August 16 at the city planning department.
