
November 12 saw China Peak above Fresno sporting 5-7 inches of fresh snow according to the ski resort’s website- the first of this season.
The popular Central California ski run is using cold temps to make more snow with the expectation of more storms knocking at the door in the next several weeks before Thanksgiving. The resort hopes to open by November 23 for the season but that depends on continued cold weather to allow snowmaking to add to the pack from natural snow.
National Weather Service Hanford is forecasting a more significant precip-water plum arriving in Central California late this week with lower snow levels. Chances of snowfall accumulation reaching 8 inches by Friday is 50% to 70%.
Grant Grove expects heavy snow Thursday and Friday says the National Weather Service.
The Valley floor did not see much precipitation from the latest storm with Hanford receiving under a 1/3 of an inch as of November 11. But the Sierra saw its first taste of snow.
