May 27,2020-
Groupings in prisons, food processing plants and nursing homes remain the majority of rising numbers of COVID 19 patients this week in Tulare and Kings Counties.But these hot spot cases appear to be rising more slowly than just a week ago.
As of May 27 Tulare County has recorded 1796 cases,79 deaths and 723 recovered.Over the weekend the count jumped by 130.
Of the 1796 cases nursing homes account for about 30% of the cases but over 80% of the deaths.
Here is the latest count.
Visalia’s Redwood Springs: 209 – 31 deaths.
Linwood Meadows: 18 total cases, 4 deaths
Lindsay Gardens: 116 total cases, 14 deaths
Dinuba Healthcare: 85 total cases, 5 deaths
Sierra Valley Rehab: 89 total cases, 12 deaths
Total nursing home cases – 517 with 66 death.That is up from 513 as of May 21 with new cases clearly slowing.
Food processor cases continue to climb with latest infection coming at Ruiz Foods in Dinuba and Tulare : 276 cases total: 219 employees and 57 others.By way of comparison Ruiz Foods was at 236 cases as of May 21.
Central Valley Meat in Hanford: 64 cases involving Tulare County residents ( 56 employees and 8 others)
In Kings County the total cases climbed from 488 as of May 21 to 697 today with the biggest increase recently coming at Avenal Prison where as of today there were 198 inmates with COVID-19 and 19 staff or 217 total. That is over 30% of the virus cases in the county. That is up significantly from 48 inmates and 8 staff at he prison as of May 21. Mandatory staff testing for COVID-19 begins at California Institution for Men (CIM) and Avenal State Prison (ASP) this week-May 26.
There are some 200 cases at Central Valley Meat-another 30% of the cases.
