Butter prices melting with loss of restaurant sales

Screen Shot 2020-04-12 at 7.20.38 AMSlammed by the loss of the food service sector, dairy famers can’t count on butter sales any more to boost their commodity price. In  recent days, the CME price for butter is down to $1.24 – one dollar lower than a year ago. It was $2 in January. The dairy industry cant make up the lost sales from food service business that is larger than grocery store sales. Milk produces need to be cut to avoid dumping of loads – something that is not happening in the Valley yet but is happening in Idaho and in the Eastern US.
