Lemoore/Hanford give green light for cannabis
Kings County: Both Hanford and Lemoore are moving toward approval of ordinances to allow sales of all classes of cannabis in their communities after rejecting the idea in the past. Lemoore approved a new ordinance July 2 and Hanford has already approved the plan open the town to retail use for both medical and adult use as wells manufacturers and distributors of both. Applications are due in Hanford August 12 says city planner Darlene Mata.
Lemoore council member faces felony charges
Lemoore. Embattled city council member Holly Blair will be arraigned in Kings County Superior Court later this month charged with a felony offense after an unusual traffic related incident June 5. According to court records Blair faces three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with her car nearly hurting a child as well as an assault on a police officer with her vehicle.
She is also charged with three misdemeanors that include endangering 13-year-old child that was a passenger in her car. The court papers say Blair was driving with “wanton disregard for safety of person and property.”The city police chief called Blair’s conduct “ very bizarre.”
Shuttered hospital closer to reopening
Coalinga: This isolated Fresno County town’s closed hospital could reopen under the control of Modesto based American Advanced Medical Services who also re-opened Colusa Regional Medical Center. Attorney Riley Walter who is helping the bankrupt Coalinga unit says American has plans to reopen as a long term care hospital that would serve the local community.”People wont have to travel 30 miles to go the hospital” says Walters. Recently the bankruptcy judge the case approved issuing revenue bonds to help the hospital to reopen.
Tulare hospital adding more departments
Tulare:Adventist Health has reopened the doors of Tulare Regional Medical Center some months ago and is now called Adventist Health Tulare. Now they are pushing to reopen still shuttered departments as they work to add more staff, make improvements and move to a full service health care unit. The OB department is expected to open in mid July. Altura and Family Healthcare Network are scheduling patients for follow up. Both are providing OB’s a report says.Meanwhile 15,000 visits to the ER have been made to date with 75 patients being seen each day. Some 200 surgeries have been performed. The sleep lab is scheduled to open in August, 2019 and the Mammography department is coming. Adventist Health says it has made a $2 million investment in a new MRI. Sill the hospital is struggling to attract more specialists on call .They expect Cardio/Ortho will elevate the number of patients in the August daily census.
Home building permits pick up
Visalia:New home building permits in Visalia are up 30% in the first half of 2019 and valuation is up 36% according to the the City of Visalia. Some 330 new home permits were issued in the first half of this year compared to 253 for the same period in 2018.DR Horton is top builder in town with 95 units followed by San Joaquin Valley Homes.
On the commercial front permits are up 4% and up 26% on valuation.
