Looking down the road at a new bond measure leaders at Kaweah Delta hospital are weighing the benefits of merger with other nearby hospital districts that could broaden the property tax base who contribute to the hospital’s finances. A common complaint in the past been that many people outside the district currently use the services of the region’s biggest hospital.Getting voters to sign on for a new multi million bond might have a better argument if the burden was shared with nearby communities.Health care districts nearby include Alta around Dinuba, Lindsay, Exeter’s ambulance district and and Sierra View who has agreed to a joint venture with Kaweah recently.Tulare is not being considered. The district lost a bond election in 2016 sending them back to the drawing board and vowing to get the community more involved in any future bond issue. Hospital staff say they will bring a plan to the Kaweah Delta board soon.
