Screen Shot 2019-02-05 at 2.27.58 PMThe Tulare Basin Precipitation Index is 121% of average for todays date, approaching the rainfall total we saw in 1997/98, the  second wettest year on record.  The 6-station index is tabulated  by averaging rain from   weather stations in the south Sierra from Giant Forest down to Isabella Dam in Kern County.

To keep up with the ’97/98 water year, the wet pattern would have to continue over the next two months.

The northern Sierra precip index stands at 106% of average for the date.( click pic to enlarge)

As for snow, we are at 119% of average in the Tulare Basin as snow piled up over the past few days in the upper Kaweah. Giant Forest has 92% of April 1 snow water equivalent and it’s just February 5. Mineral King has over 80 inches on the ground.
