United Parcel Service (UPS) delivery maps display how long it will take a package delivered from a certain location to reach US destinations.
Both Visalia and Fresno enjoy same day delivery service from Big Brown to most of California (see map). The two Central Valley communities are competing with each other to attract distribution centers like the proposed Nordstrom facility who often use UPS to ship their goods.
If you take a look at these maps,Visalia officials argue that the difference appears to be for shipments heading east of California. For example shipments from Visalia can reach most of Texas in three days while it takes Fresno outbound packages four days to get there.Likewise – for much of the South and East Coast, Visalia has a one-day advantage.
“We believe when we show these maps to companies they will see one more advantage to locating in Visalia” says Eric Frost, Assistant City Manager.
