A new report from the California Public Utilities Commission forecasts that the state will get 50% of its power needs met from renewables like solar and wind power by 2020 – 10 years earlier than the law requires. Further, it says that between 2008 and 2016, the price of utility-scale solar contracts reported to the CPUC have gone down 77%, and between 2007 and 2015 reported prices of wind contracts have gone down 47%.
