Nice Start To Water Year In Fresno/Tulare Mountains

November 11,2015

A look at precipitation in in the past week shows nice accumulation of snow in the Central Sierra above Fresno and Tulare Counties. Some 3 inches accumulated according to this chart (below)

Even more impressive is that rain this water year is not only notably above average but above the 1968/69 wet year level says the state. It’s 157% of average since October 1, obviously early in the game.

Ski resorts are happy for  a change with nice snowfall in the right places including China Peak who says they expect to open for Thanksgiving.

Looking ahead some storms coming into  the state later this month will not reach this far south but Turkey Day could be wet up and down California.
Here is one model for November 26 showing a strong Alaskan storm with several waves of precip.
