Electric Bus Maker To Come To Porterville
Green Energy, a Vancouver Canada based electric bus maker is considering building a plant in California to comply with Made in America rules and service California buyers who have placed orders. The company has reportedly been weighing a multiple sites including Porterville to build a manufacturing plant that could employ several hundred. The towns school district is expected be a customer with some of the oldest operating school buses in the state.
This week the company sent a representative to a city committee hearing in Porterville saying it wants to move forward and build a 145,000sf plant. The company would buy 10 acres the city owns at the Porterville Airport. Once constructed the plant would employ 60 to start.
Director of the company Fraser Atkinson told this reporter by phone they were eager to build a plant in the state.”California offers plenty of opportunity for us.”
