Central California is getting a Holiday gift today that keeps on giving – rain. For the past 24 hours the Central Sierra’s Huntington Lake received an impressive 3.6 inches of precip – mostly snow as they are celebrating at nearby China Peak ski resort after several dry years. Central Valley farmers wondering if they will have water in 2016 have reason for hope with an even wetter El Nino pattern expected in early January. Impressive 24 hr precip totals on the map – 5 inches at many locations – north of Huntington in the Sierra . The Bay Area is getting pounded today.
On the Central Coast those gray brown hills are turning green as a cold storm moves over the state ( see graphic) with more coming for XMAS.Lopez Lake got over an inch and Camp San Luis 1.5 inches in the past 24 hours.
