December 22,2016

screen-shot-2016-12-22-at-6-32-07-amNWS-Hanford: “this will be a banner storm for heavy snow in the Sierra with up to 3 feet possible over the highest elevations by late Saturday. Residents in the Sierra foothills above 2500 feet could wake up to a light dusting of snow Saturday morning. Rain in the lower elevations could be heavy enough to cause localized flooding Friday evening and night. Additionally, the atmosphere may become unstable enough for the development of isolated thunderstorms with small hail in the San Joaquin valley and adjacent foothills Saturday.” The weather service website expects “drenching rain” during this period.

Another storm brushes the state Monday but only the Central Coast gets wet models show.

Here also is the 7 day precip accumulation prediction from NOAA showing the entire state getting wet over the next week.
