Two Developers Negotiate With Dynegy Over Morro Bay Plant Site

December 8,2016-

Two developers are talking to Houston-based Dynegy about buying the mothballed power plant site on Morro Bay’s waterfront. The 107 acre prime property is likely to be redeveloped for a combination of uses including a hotel.Community Development Director Scot Graham said this week that the city and the unnamed companies have been talking as well since any project would need to be approved by the city. Graham says no word on the fate of the famous 450 stacks at the plant that has been idle since 2014.Graham says Dynegy at first tried to sell all their properties in California as a package but has decided to allow sale of each site they own in the state. Earlier this year City Manager Dave Buckingham predicted some sort of deal could be announced by year’s end.
