Morro Bay is seeing a steady rise in Transient Occupancy Tax receipts in the past few years. The numbers from May of this year show motel receipts of $1.96 million vs $1.73 million for May of 2013 and $1.53 million for May 2012. Occupancy of Morro Bay hotels has risen from 53% in May 2012, to 57% for May 2013 and 60% this May. Total tax receipts to the city that include vacation units and trailer parks have seen a steady increase of around 10% these past 2 years. With the rise in visitor activity local retailers and eateries report better traffic as well.
Plans For Brewery & Tasting Room On Suburban Rd
Move over all you wine bars – Earthwood Lane LLC has submitted plans for 2 buildings at 163 Suburban Rd on vacant land there. The larger building would be a 6335sf brewery and tasting room and a second storage and manufacturing building. The applicant went through the Architectural Review process for the new complex this past week.
SLO Foster’s Freeze Could Get Chilled
PB Companies is proposing to demolish the existing Foster’s Freeze restaurant structure along with the salon building on Marsh and Nipomo in SLO town to accommodate a new project including 10,800 square feet of lower floor commercial floor area and 22 residential units on the 2nd-4th floors. The applicant’s intent is to process a tentative map to allow for separate ownership of both the commercial spaces and residential units.
99 Cent Store Coming
Laguna Village Shopping Center’s vacant Spencer’s space will now be divided between two tenants – the Grocery Outlet and a 13,000 sf 99 Cent Store according to a city hearing.Tenant improvements should be underway in about 1 to 2 months.
