On Aug. 5, United Airlines announced the airline will no longer fly in and out of Santa Maria as of Oct. 5.They currently have 2 flights daily to SFO. A United Airlines spokesperson said “we made the difficult decision to end service between Santa Maria and San Francisco because the route did not meet our expectations and is no longer sustainable.”
The news make it likely more area residents will fly out of San Luis Obispo or Santa Barbara.
In recent days the Santa Maria City Council heard a presentation from Mokulele Airlines looking to provide regular air service from Santa Maria to LA.The airline flies 9 seat Cessna Caravans.
Allegiant Air continues its flights to Las Vegas from the Santa Maria.
