News Roundup – Sales Tax Vote In Kings Co

Voters To Decide Kings County Sales Tax Hike

Screen Shot 2016-02-23 at 11.15.44 AMThis week the Kings County Board of Supervisors will place a 1/4 percent public safety transactions and use tax on the June 7 ballot. The measure,if passed,is expected to raise $4 million annually to be shared with the four cities in the county. Of the $4 million, some $1.25 million would be retained by the County to be budgeted for public safety personnel, frontline equipment, and facilities for Sheriff and fire operations. The remainder would be granted to the cities for use by their police and fire departments.
The measure requires support from 2/3 of the electorate.

Tulare BOS Expected To Approve Cotton Center Dollar Store

Tulare County Board of Supervisors will take up a 1.22 acre zone change in Cotton Center that will allow construction of a 9100sf Dollar General store. The developer is the Embree Asset group. The store would be on the corner of Hwy 190 and Rd 192.

Gas Prices Still Falling

Gasoline prices continue to fall  this week as Gas Buddy reports at least one station in the state selling regular for $1.69. The average is now $2.31. In Visalia the best price is $1.79 and on the Coast inSLO Costco is selling gas for $2.29 today.
