The California new light vehicle market has continued on its steady upward track this years says the California New Car Dealers Association. New light vehicle registrations in the state will improve for the sixth consecutive year in 2015, with the annual total likely exceeding two million units. The market has doubled in size from the low-point reached in 2009 when registrations were just a little over one million units. Auto Outlook believes the market has enough gas in the tank to move higher again in 2016. The percentage increase is likely to be smaller than this year, but total registrations should exceed 2.1 million units.
Third quarter registrations are up 11.2% year over year pushed higher by light trucks sales up 19.1%. Jeep led the way for brands with registrations up over 30%. Honda Civic was the top selling car while the F-series trucks were best sellers.
