Drought Takes Toll On Farm Jobs In South Valley

May 4,2015-
The California EDD reports the number of farm jobs dropped year over year in the states’s most productive farming area including Fresno,Tulare and Kern counties in March. On a year over year basis the number of farm jobs dropped by 1400 in Tulare County, a 4.6% decline;by 2500 jobs in Fresno County, a 6% drop and by 700 in Kern County, a decrease of 1.6%.
For all three counties there were a  a total of 4600 fewer ag related jobs – most drought related. All three counties showed higher employment in nonfarm jobs.
